I Finally Did It

At long last I finally had the courage to do it -- I participated in Barking Hour! Yes, me, Tyler Dog, barked during Barking Hour. I already know what you're going to say, "But, Tyler, barking during Barking Hour is something only DOGS do." What can I say, I felt the urge, so I did it. You know what? It felt pretty good to just throw caution to the wind and say, "blah!" to my stuffy attitude and just be a dog for a few minutes. It felt real good. Mom was real happy, too. My participation surprised her. Ordinarily, I would have nothing to do with Barking Hour.

Let me bring you up to speed on what Barking Hour is. Barking Hour is a time when Mom encourages us to bark. She even barks right along with us. Tedi, being the full-blooded Italian that he is, likes to make lots of noise. He's just downright loud and boisterous. Mom, on the other hand, likes her peace and quiet. Therein lines the conflict, so the solution is Barking Hour. Mom tells Tedi that it's okay to bark his heart out during Barking Hour, but when Mom says that's enough, Barking Hour is over and we're back to quiet time. That is, until Tedi has one of his outbursts, which he does frequently during the day.

Mom has tried numerous times to get me to bark during Barking Hour. I just never saw the point of it until today. We still have the Lisa the Wonder Foster with us and now Honey the Wheatable who everyone thought was a Beardie. Mom says Honey's stay is only temporary while Poppa gets better. Seems he took a tumble and has big owie on his hip and is in the hospital. Nana is helping to take care of him and while she does that, Honey is staying with us. Lisa barks occasionally, but not during Barking Hour. Honey will bark at the drop of a hat -- ANY HAT! Needless to say, it didn't take much for her to participate in Barking Hour even though this was her first go at it. My participation even surprised Tedi. He ran over to me to see if I was really barking, too. All in all, it was a fun experience. That said, I'll have wait and see if next time I feel like participating in Barking Hour. Now that I know what its about, I still may choose to watch and just shake my head at the dogs!

Livin' It Up in Longview

Ok, so last time I posted, I told y'all about my experiences in Dallas. Well, this time, Mom took Tyler and I took to someplace called Longview, TX. It was a bit of a drive, but that doesn't matter much to me; I love the car. At first, it was all kinda confusing. Our setup was different at the show. Ordinarily, we're with our friend Jeanie and her dogs, but this time we were with Martha and the Aussies. I like Aussies and I love Martha. The BEST part was Tyler and I didn't have to stay at the show, we got to go back with Mom to the hotel at night. That was a big surprise!

The hotel room was lots of fun. It was a big room with lots of space for Tyler and I to play, although Mom told us we couldn't - something about it being bedtime and us being on the 3rd floor - whatever that means! This also meant more car rides, whoooweee!!!

Mom's performance in the ring was great! She did a good job. I think I might be getting the hang of this Rally game. Our score on the first day was an 82 and the second day was 87. The second day I had some distraction problems in the beginning, but got back on track. Mom was happy with how we did, she said I really worked with her. She says our scores were a little lower than the last time because of a few spots we need to polish. Polishing? I can just put a little dog slobber on that to spiff it up, right? Guess I'll have to see what she means by that.

Tyler got to be Kennel Dog. Mom says its good for him to chill out. She says he still needs to let those hormones get out of his system. Guess she must still be upset at him for the Dallas thing...dunno. And don't care! Ha! As long as she's happy with me, that's all I care about, since the cookies will be free-flowing this way. Not sure when we'll be back in the ring again. I hope its soon, though!

Bounce high my friends!

My Weekend in the Big City

Howdy, y'all! Tedi here. As Tyler said, it's been crazy around our house. Mom's been dragging us to dog shows. I like dogs. Although, I don't get to play with them much. Tyler doesn't really play, he's a bit of a drag. Mom keeps apologizing for his lack of play skills. Lisa, well, she's an old girl and she doesn't play either.

Anywho, I want to tell you about my trip to the Big D. Yep, Dallas, I was in Dallas over the weekend making an appearance on Friday in the Rally ring with Mom. We had a great time. She fed me lots of treats outside the ring, of course. I still haven't figured out why I don't get them inside yet, but I suspect it has something to do with the Rally game. Mom was so happy with how we did, not sure I've ever seen her so happy. And you remember what I've said about her being happy! Oh, daddy! Was she ever giving me more pieces of chicken after we got out of the ring!?! Whew!!! Jackpot!!! It was great! And they kept coming as we sat and watched the other dogs go. Mom said we got a score of 95, we got to go back into the ring and get the clapping thing done. That's so great, too. Such excitement! Then, there's the green ribbon, I've got another one!

Mom calls me her Rally machine. I did make one mistake, but I was so excited to be there, I forgot where I was. I did it good the second time around though. She said our score was a 95 and that she didn't care she was just happy that we worked together as a team. I think we did, too. She did a good job of telling me what the signs said and making sure I understood what to do. The best part; we had fun doing it together!

Tyler ran on Saturday, even though I wanted to go sooo bad! He didn't do a good job. I could tell - Mom wasn't happy when she returned with him, plus he didn't get a green ribbon. Tyler has been doing Rally longer than I have, but I've got more green ribbons than him. He doesn't have a placement yet either (I've got 2). It's safe to say, you can never count us older guys out.

Bounce high my friends!

P.S. Mom says my next gig is in 3 weeks. I can't wait!

Craziness @ Our House

Ok, so it's been a few months since I last posted. And well, things have calmed down, it's so weird. I used to be influenced by all these emotions, the scents and smells just don't feel the same as they used to before the boys disappearance. My appetite has increased. I see what Ted means by wanting cookies all the time; I've become preoccupied with food lately, too. I still want my ball, though, nothing will ever replace that! Ball, ball, ball, that's all I ever want to do.

It's been crazy around our house lately. Mom's been bringing in these strange girls. She says they're special. If she's says so, I don't see anything special about them. They're just dogs. The first one wasn't here very long. The second one has been here a while. I fear she may become a permanent resident, like Tedi. Lisa is her name and she doesn't really do much. She has one annoying habit I cannot stand! She likes to scratch the walls or scratch the floor of her crate. I CANNOT stand that sound! It makes me cringe - I try to crawl up in Mom's lap if I can or hide under Daddy's desk to try and get away from the sound. Nails on the chalkboard have nothing on this sound. Ugh! Just thinking about it makes me shudder.

Lisa has been an okay house guest. She's made a few messes in the houses that Mom's had to clean up. She's messed more in the house than I ever did; I was a good boy! Lisa got real sick and had to be at the puppy doctor's for a few days. Ted and I are glad she's okay now. Mom says she's writing a blog about Lisa to help others who have dogs like her. You can check it out here: The Wonder Rescue.

Happy Bounces!

Bragging on Myself

Hey everyBeardie,

Mom kept us from using her computer for the last couple of months. She said it was having "technical difficulties" - whatever that means in 2legged-speak. Well, we've finally been given permission to continue posting. And boy, do we have a lot to talk about!

Before Tyler gets on this thing and hogs it up, I have a brag...I got my Canine Good Citizens Certificate. Woohoo! Who would have thought? Me? The Tedmeister...getting his CGC, proving to the world that I'm something. I'm pretty proud of myself. Have to say Mom and Dad are really proud of me, too. Mom says I did it all on my own. Guess I did, but she helped a little. It was tough, too. We were in a barn and there were birds EVERYWHERE. The hard part was my stay. Mom put me in down-stay and said not to move - she also said she'd be back. And she did, she came back and was grinning from ear to ear! I didn't know 2legs could do that. Stays really aren't my thing and I did break it when I saw her, but she didn't seem to care. She was really happy and said I did good. I like it when she says that.

It made up for my earlier screw-up in the Rally ring that day, but that really wasn't my fault. My good friends, Aussies, were in the ring next door and they were having a party. It looked like fun, too! Everyone was cheering and clapping. I saw my good friend Martha in the ring with Gala, the Aussie puppy I've met several times. Gala's a cutie and she was there having a good time, too! I wanted to go over and see what the fuss was about - we can do Rally later, Mom! She didn't think so and was quite disappointed. I think I may have messed up as we didn't get to go back into the ring again at the end like we have in the past. Back in the ring is where you get cheers and claps and lots of pets. It's great! We didn't get that - Mom said only winners go in the ring. Guess we were LOSERS. Mom just put me back in the crate and then left. I could tell she was disappointed.

So getting my CGC put me back in the good again. I tried to do my best this time. Did I mention that I like that? Well, Mom took me over to my favorite store at the dog show and got me a beef strap thing. I was so happy and proud I carried it all the way back to my crate! Tyler was jealous...he kept wondering where his was. Dunno...guess you gotta earn it!

Now, I'm happy to announce that my name is Stargate's Spaghetti Cowboy, RN, CGC. The RN stands for Rally Novice. Mom and I got it together last year. Rally's fun and I like doing it with Mom. She can be a good handler when she's got her act together. If she's having a bad day, then we don't do as well. I forgave her for costing us 10 points at a trial and an NQ at another. I think we're even now as I've caused us to NQ twice now. It's give and take...she gives and I take! Cookies and treats, that is. Hahaha!

That's enough from me. Time to let the youngster on! Until next time...

I've Been Robbed

Someone please call the police! I've been robbed and I don't know what to do. I woke up this morning a little groggy, yesterday was a complete blur. Today, I feel really strange and kinda sore in my personal area (if you know what I mean). Well, I prop up my hind leg to check out what's going on under there and OMG, they're GONE! My boys are gone! All that's left is this itchy, red, sore line thing on my private parts. Mom told me to leave the area alone, but I demand to know what happened to my boys. Let me recount the story as I remember.

Yesterday, Mom says we're going to the puppy doctor. Now, I really don't like going there, because they do weird stuff to me. The people are friendly and nice, but I always feel like I'm being violated when I'm there. Maybe I'm just oversensitive - I don't know. Mom acted kinda strange; she kept telling me to be a good boy. "Like duh, Mom, aren't I always?" I said to her with my eyes. Then one of the nice people starts taking me back with them and my Mom utters words I never want to hear her say when I'm there again - "I'll be back." UGH!!! That means she's leaving me here???

Yes, that's exactly what happened. My dear Mother, who has raised me since I was 8 weeks old. The very person with whom I've logged thousands upon thousands of hours - left me with THESE PEOPLE. How could she do this? I trusted her and this is what I get for that trust. Grrrrr...I am not happy with her right now. She's knows I'm not a dog, how could she leave me with them? I don't understand. A few minutes pass in this prison cell they put me into when a nice tech came and sprung me - or so I thought. Actually she just came to stick me with something and hook up a tube thing to my leg, then a few minutes more and I started to feel really relaxed. Wow...that stuff was great. I felt really sleepy and I guess I went to sleep.

Next, I remember waking up with people all around me. I didn't know where I was, but I wasn't feeling any pain. They put me back into the prison cell, but I didn't care. They could do to me whatever they wanted. I think I went back to sleep then, too. I woke up a little while later and then it dawned on me where I was. Ok, I want out. I want my Mom, even though I'm madder than heck at her, I still want her and I want out of here. I didn't get my way. They had this tube thingy still hooked to my leg; since they hadn't listened to me, I decided to take the tube thingy out myself. It made a mess, but I didn't care. At least, when Mom appears there will be no delays in getting to her. Ramiro, a tech I'm not fond of, told me Mom was here. I thought I'd be able to just go right to her, but I botched my tube extraction and left part of it still in my leg. Darn! Thank goodness, he's competent. He managed to get the rest of it out and bandaged my leg. I pulled him all the way to the front - I wanted out of here NOW!

Mom met me in the reception area. Daddy was there, too. Boy, was I glad to see him! I gave Mom a casual greeting and then went straight to Daddy. I think she got the message. Anyway, I love my Daddy! It's always about Daddy whenever he's around. I can see Mommy anytime. What a treat! I got back into our Beardie Bus and Tedi was there waiting. Hi Ted...I said to him as I climbed into my crate. He wanted to know what happened, where did I go, who did I see - yada, yada, yada. Spent the rest of the day resting, well, kinda resting. I was still out of it on something called pain medication Mom said. Mom got the BBO (Beardie Brush Off) from me the rest of the day; just want to make sure she knew I was upset with her for leaving me. I wake up this morning and finally get a chance to survey things and this is what I discover: my two boys have been stolen from me.

If someone has any idea where my boys have gone, I ask them to please contact me immediately. I want them back - no questions asked! Just please bring them back....

Mom Does Weird Stuff

Not sure about other dogs' moms, but ours does some weird stuff sometimes. She gets excited over the strangest things. Like when we go potty. Heck! We're just doing our business, Mom! Give us a moment! Gosh! Or when the mail comes. Last week, she got all excited over a piece of paper. She showed it to us, but we just wanted to run off with it and shred it up into a bizillion pieces. Yesterday, same thing, only this time it was a photograph. Mom said it was of her and I. I'll take her word for it.

Regardless of what she's getting excited about, it usually means Tyler and I get to capitalize one way or another on it. Yes, we're talking about scheming, planning, and plotting. When Mom's in a good mood, then everyone's in a good mood -- you know that! If she whistling or humming around the house, that usually means she's happy and that means cookies! Yeah, boy! That's right, hand them this way!

As I see it, it all comes down to food. When she's in a good mood, she's probably more willing to give me a cookie than when she's not in a good a mood. See my point. So I don't necessarily care what she's happy about, just as long as she passing the goodies my way. Don't get me wrong, I love my Mom and I'm glad she's happy. Let's just say that I'm keeping one eye on her and the other on the cookie jar!

For Tyler and I, Merry Christmas!

Talkin' Bout the Weather

Living in Texas, the weather is funny thing. It takes on its own personality. Earlier this week, it was sunny and warm. Mom had us outside and let us play for long time. She even stayed out with us for awhile enjoying the warm weather. Then we had thunderstorms - Ted and I are not big fans of those. After that, it got colder - at least for her anyways. We didn't think so. We liked it. She kept running around saying to Daddy how cold it was outside and she kept putting more clothes on. How silly! Tedi's making the adjustment to Texas weather. He didn't like the heat so much, but the fall and early winter seems to be agreeing with him. Tedi & I enjoy the brisk weather. Afterall, we were built for chasing after sheep in highlands in this kind of weather. We just need a touch of moisture in the air and it would be absolutely perfect for us!

On a different note, Mom thinks she's some kind of comedienne. She looked at me and said, "Why don't you take your coat off and stay and while." I was not amused.

For Tedi and myself, Happy Beardie Bounces!

Welcome to Tedi & Tyler's Beardie Blog!

Hi there!

Let us first introduce ourselves, we're Tedi and Tyler. We're a dog breed known as Bearded Collies. And before you say that we don't look like Lassie, yep we don't look anything like those type of dogs. That's because we're a different breed altogether. Mom says it's a long story, but basically comes down to us being from Scotland or something. We really don't care, we're just happy to be here. :) If you do and want to find out more about us, there are some great links to check out.

Mom calls us The Original Sons of Anarchy because of the havoc we like wreak on her nice, neat, clean house. We blush a little 'cuz it kinda true. Beardies do like to have lots of fun and bounce and play. She takes life too seriously sometimes and we take it upon ourselves to teach her lighten up. We kept bugging her to start our blog for us since we have lots to say and while she's tweaking on the look (we're not happy with the design just yet), we'll be adding more content, so please check back with us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Beardie Bounces,

Tedi & Tyler
