I Finally Did It

At long last I finally had the courage to do it -- I participated in Barking Hour! Yes, me, Tyler Dog, barked during Barking Hour. I already know what you're going to say, "But, Tyler, barking during Barking Hour is something only DOGS do." What can I say, I felt the urge, so I did it. You know what? It felt pretty good to just throw caution to the wind and say, "blah!" to my stuffy attitude and just be a dog for a few minutes. It felt real good. Mom was real happy, too. My participation surprised her. Ordinarily, I would have nothing to do with Barking Hour.

Let me bring you up to speed on what Barking Hour is. Barking Hour is a time when Mom encourages us to bark. She even barks right along with us. Tedi, being the full-blooded Italian that he is, likes to make lots of noise. He's just downright loud and boisterous. Mom, on the other hand, likes her peace and quiet. Therein lines the conflict, so the solution is Barking Hour. Mom tells Tedi that it's okay to bark his heart out during Barking Hour, but when Mom says that's enough, Barking Hour is over and we're back to quiet time. That is, until Tedi has one of his outbursts, which he does frequently during the day.

Mom has tried numerous times to get me to bark during Barking Hour. I just never saw the point of it until today. We still have the Lisa the Wonder Foster with us and now Honey the Wheatable who everyone thought was a Beardie. Mom says Honey's stay is only temporary while Poppa gets better. Seems he took a tumble and has big owie on his hip and is in the hospital. Nana is helping to take care of him and while she does that, Honey is staying with us. Lisa barks occasionally, but not during Barking Hour. Honey will bark at the drop of a hat -- ANY HAT! Needless to say, it didn't take much for her to participate in Barking Hour even though this was her first go at it. My participation even surprised Tedi. He ran over to me to see if I was really barking, too. All in all, it was a fun experience. That said, I'll have wait and see if next time I feel like participating in Barking Hour. Now that I know what its about, I still may choose to watch and just shake my head at the dogs!
